Brad Pitt Stepping In For World War Z Sequel
Back in 2013, Brad Pitt starred as a United Nations investigator who crossed the globe to find the source of a terrifying pandemic turning humans into zombies in World War Z. When a curse is sourced and distributed, humanity is saved, and the dystopian story comes to a close – yet 13 years later, Paramount Pictures is picking it back up for a sequel.
Pitt will be returning to lead the sequel film under the All Quiet on the Western Front helmer Edward Berger. He signed on to direct with a script penned by Dennis Kelly. Berger and Brad Pitt have recently worked together on the A24 production of The Riders, setting up an easy process for a sequel that has long been in the works.

It is not surprising they are revisiting the idea of it being a franchise, with the original film pulling in $540 million to become the highest-grossing zombie film of all time. The success at the time meant ideas for a follow-up were quickly discussed; however, failure to develop and secure a worthwhile budget left it shelved for future personnel.
Paramount have brought it back into the limelight however, with an announcement at CinemaCon earlier this year giving minimal information but confirming the sequel – this was prior to attaching any names to the project.
Brad Pitt’s latest project, Heart of the Beast, opened in UK cinemas on September 20th, which follows a survival story of a man and a dog battling the elements.
