Mason Gooding And Emily Rudd To Lead Paramount’s Crawl 2

Mason Gooding in Scream and Emily Rudd in One Piece

As if gigantic alligators in the floodwaters of Florida aren’t terrifying enough, now they’re heading to New York City. At least they will be in Crawl 2, the follow-up to Paramount’s 2019 sleeper hit Crawl.

In addition to Alexandra Aja returning to direct, we’re also learning who will star in this new survival story. Mason Gooding (Booksmart, Scream franchise) and Emily Rudd (One Piece, Fear Street franchise) are set to lead the cast of the sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Starring Kaya Scodelarioย (The Woman in Cabin 10,ย The Maze Runner) andย Barry Pepperย (True Grit,ย The Green Mile), the first movie follows a father-daughter duo who find themselves trapped in a Florida home and are hunted by gators during a Category 5 hurricane. The movie ended up making a profit for Paramount, earning $91.5 million worldwide against its budget of under $14 million.

As for the sequel, all we know so far is that the setting will trade a hurricane-ravaged Florida for a partially submerged New York City, and a family’s survival skills will be put to the test as they navigate the urban wilderness. No other plot details have been released, but we can assume alligators will be involved.

Andrew Deutschman, Jason Harry Pagan, and Gregory Levasseur (Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension) all worked on the script along with Aja.

Craig Flores, Sam Raimi, and Aja are producing, with Levasseur and Zainab Azizi serving as executive producers.

The new thriller, which has been in development since at least 2024, is scheduled to start production later this month in Hungary.
