In a new  60 second new trailer for the much-anticipated sequel to Danny Boyle‘s 1996 cult classic, Sony Pictures release. A trailer that’s restyled like as if it was set 20 years previously like the original. Iconic ‘choose life’  from Ewan McGregor, Underworld’s Born Slippy tune and some new footage gives a few clues to what happens to the boys.
We’ve been teased about why Renton has come back home to Edinburgh, Spud tries a ‘new addiction’ and what Sick Boy has been doing, what about Begbie? In the final featurette, that covers the gang Robert Carlyle explains Begbie might be older but he hasn’t forgotten about one man, Renton. After spending those two decades behind bars largely thanks to Renton backstabbing him after the botched robbery from the first movie. He still has the fun but has a lot of despair too…
First, there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal.Twenty years have gone by.Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle).
Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.
If you’re wondering what the movie’s score will be as the original soundtrack was as iconic as the movie a big slice of 1990’s popular culture. It has been kept secret virtually until the very end as Amazon have advertised the track listing but it seems by accident. That list has been taken down but it seems the 15-track list will include a mixture of modern indie, to 90’s trance. Young Fathers, Fat White Family and Wolf Alice will be joined by a new update version of Underworld’s ‘Born Slippy’ now ‘Slow Slippy’, Iggy Pop’s ‘Lust For Life’ remixed by The Prodigy. It’s all gossip but if it’s official sound an exciting soundtrack.
Not long now, T2 Trainspotting is set for a 27th January UK &Irish release date. James Cosmo, Kelly McDonald, Shirley Henderson and Irvine Welsh the brains behind the Trainspotting story.
