When it comes to someone with a particular skill or talent they should only be judged by those talents not by persons skin colour or gender. In Hidden Figures, 3 talented figures all women faced these barriers, but also ones that also judged their skin colour.
Hidden Figures is currently number one movie at the U.S box office and now BAFTA nominated for ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’, Twentieth Century Fox have sent us a brand new Featurette and Clip to celebrate the good news.
First, up is’Modern Figures’ series featurette, where we meet Tracy Drain a Mechanical Engineer at Jet Propulsion Lab, discusses Katherine Johnson’s legacy and being a woman in the field of engineering. A true ‘Hidden Figure’ who deserves the spotlight…
Finally, we have a clip entitled “New Computer,” we see Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson) being introduced to her new boss (Kevin Costner) and department at NASA.
Hidden Figures is the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanised the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.
Hidden Figures also stars Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, Glen Powell, Kevin Costner and is directed by Theodore Melfi. The movie is set for a 17th February UK & Irish release date.
