Spud Tries A New Addiction In T2: Trainspotting Featurette

5 weeks time the long wait for Trainspotting sequel T2: Trainspotting will be over and judge, jury and possibly executioner will be in force. The big question will be ‘was it worth the wait?’

After Renton’s Featurette, Sony Pictures have sent us another promo this time for Spud (Ewan Bremner). Not much has changed apart from he’s older and video teases the notion Renton’s return to Edinburgh will play a big part of Spud. That big, he might finally get free of that addiction but what really is the ‘new addiction’? Could it be the running at Renton claims or something worse?

First there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal.

Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle).
Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.

It’s hard to believe Trainspotting was the first 18 rated movie I ever saw on my own for the first time. After 20 years it still feels fresh, gritty, even still relevant nowadays, the iconic Underworld song still brings goosebumps every time I hear it. Danny Boyle certainly created a special movie based on Irvine Welsh cult novel and we have hopes that he’ll match it with this one.T2: Trainspotting is meant to be based on the equally dark Porno which some fans regard as an even better book. I haven’t read it or know how much of that book will be seen on the big screen.

T2: Trainspotting is set to be released in UK&Ireland on 27th January with the USA getting it 10th March.
