The Savant Finally Set for Release After Controversy

It has been seven months since the Jessica Chastain, Apple TV series The Savant was slated for release on the platform. The eight-episode series’ release date was announced in July 2025, and from its first look, this high-stakes series looked promising. However, mere days before the premiere, Apple TV abruptly postponed the show in the wake of the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Now, months later, Jessica Chastain has confirmed that AppleTV will release this hyped series later this year.

Chastain is the leading lady as a top-secret undercover investigator. Nicknamed “The Savant”, she infiltrates online hate groups, taking them down from the inside. Her internal takedowns help stop domestic extremists before they have the chance to act.

This past weekend at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony in Santa Monica, Chastain spoke with Variety regarding the show. From the fate of the show’s release being in doubt to moving more positively to sometime in the future, she stated:

“Before it was like ‘I don’t know if we’re going to see it,’ but now I can say ‘We’re going to see it’.”

According to trade reporter, their sources have indicated that The Savant is being slated for a July release, or aiming to do so. Apple has yet to officially confirm and announce a new date, however.

The series is inspired by a true-life story titled “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?” which featured in Cosmopolitan in August 2019, of a woman who has come to be known as “the Savant” who infiltrates online hate groups to prevent large-scale public attacks.[ It covers the division of the Anti-Defamation League that infiltrates online hate groups.

In the works for over two years now, the show also stars Nnamdi Asomugha, James Badge Dale, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste and Pablo Schreiber. We have a review of the series ready to go whenever it becomes available to stream on Apple.
