First Official Clip From Lee Cronin’s The Mummy Released

First clip from Lee Cronin's The Mummy

IGN have treated horror fans to an exclusive first look clip of the upcoming Lee Cronin’s The Mummy remake from the acclaimed director of Evil Dead Rise.

The film, serving as a loose reboot of The Mummy franchise following 1932’s original by filmmaker Karl Freund and starring horror icon Boris Karloff, stars Jack Reynor,ย Laia Costa,ย May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, andย Verรณnica Falcรณn. The Conjuring’s James Wan and Blumhouse’s Jason Blum serve as producers.

The project was first hinted at in the summer of 2024 by New Line Cinemas, with the company confirming Croninย will be taking on an untitled film he also wrote. In December of that year, The Mummy reboot was officially announced by Cronin, who told The Hollywood Reporter: โ€œThis will be unlike anyย Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before.”

The director jokingly added, “Iโ€™m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.โ€

Reynor and Costa’s casting was confirmed in March 2025, followed by the rest of the cast being announced in the following months. In July 2025, it was announced that Hamille had joined the horror project.

The chilling clip showcases all the classic imagery: an ancient tomb, a body wrapped in bandages, all the digging gear and cockroaches crawling out of open mouths. The sudden distress and terror exemplified by the body concealed in the tomb signal some real scares and terror about to be unleashed.

Synopsis:

“The young daughter of a journalist disappears without a trace in the desert. The shattered family is stunned when the girl suddenly reappears eight years later. But what should have been a joyful family reunion quickly turns into a true nightmare.”

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is due for release on April 17th.
