We all know and Love the classic Cult smash hot form 1981 The Evil Dead from director Sam Raimi, but in 2013 the film was reborn into, what I consider one of the best horror remakes ever!
Released by StudioCanal in the UK (Sony Pictures in the USA) Evil Dead is a remake that I was so excited abut Starring wonderful and Talented Jane Levy (Don’t Breathe) and Shiloh Fernandez (White Bird In a Blizzard) the film follows a group of friends who take their friend, a recovering drug addict, to a secluded Cabin in the woods. However, things turn deadly when they uncover the book of the dead and accidently unleash hell.
Evil Dead is a wonderfully intense and outrageous horror film. I loved every second of it and I think this is a  film that needs to be watched at Halloween.
With the film being very loosely based on the 1981 original I think it gave it time to develop its own style. I personally loved the different vibe of the film the fact it was a play by play of the original like many other remakes try to be.
This is where this film really makes itself gold. Being so different from the original allows the film to form its own fan based as hell as having fans who have followed the progress of the Evil Dead series.
The film does not shy away from the gore factor in this film, in fact, I could easily say it has to be one fo the bloodiest films I have seen in a long time, and I am not one for a lot of gore.
It was jus a great film with great tension and atmosphere. There was a nail-biting moment where you just can not look away, moments that you need to look away because of how intense the film is. It is gripping, the edge of your seat intense and most of all a fantastic and inventive horror film.
Of course, there were many nods to the original and it plays off of the original story. But I like that it made its own statement and concluded in a different way. I honestly didn’t think the film would go the way it did and that is such an awesome thing.
It played on its own merits and had so many awesome twists and unexpected kills and moment in it, many of course being sort of hints to the original.Basically, you do not need to see the original film to see h. I think that is what makes a good horror film remake.
I strongly suggest you add this to you to watch list this Halloween.
I love Evil Dead 2013 and I am sure you will too. Go in with an open mind and be sure to let us know what you think!
