We Need To Talk About Kevin American Trailer

Lynn Ramsay‘s superb haunting We Need To Talk About Kevin was released in UK&Ireland 21st October and last week it picked up the best film at London Film Festival and today the film’s American trailer has been released online. Back in early Summer all the talk at Cannes was Terrence Malick’s Palm D’Or win which shocked some though alot seen Lynn Ramsay’s film the stronger favourite call me biased after watching both films We Need Need To Talk About Kevin its a more powerful film though Malick does it on visual style artistically Lynn Ramsay’s film is better (picking up another 6 Indie Film Nominations today). When you look at the name of the film it might be a little deceiving  but it tells the story of mother (Tilda Swinton) and her relationship with her seditious son (Ezra Miller) fighting her conscience and shock at the atrocious act he committed. When you watch the film we don’t get a story in one time line jumping between before and after the despicable act as she wonders how could her son be capable of doing what he did as well as what did she do wrong.

Its one of those films that will leave you shocked and will hit you in the gut when the film ends, films are made to entertain as well as arouse your emotions We Need To Talk About Kevin certainly does that and the trailer certainly sets the tone too. There’s been alot of strong performances from females actors and sometimes I find it hard to pinpoint one out that stands out from the rest, but this year Tilda Swinton certain steals the show with her fantastic performance, to me she is the favourite for best actress award.

We Need To Talk About Kevin is out now in UK&Ireland, for USA will get its limited release in New York & Los Angeles December 9th to qualify for the Oscars before getting a full release in February 2012.

A suspenseful and gripping psychological thriller, Lynne Ramsay’s WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN explores the factious relationship between a mother and her evil son. Tilda Swinton, in a bracing, tour-de-force performance, plays the mother, Eva, as she contends for 15 years with the increasing malevolence of her first-born child, Kevin (Ezra Miller). Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN explores nature vs. nurture on a whole new level as Eva’s own culpability is measured against Kevin’s innate evilness. Ramsay’s masterful storytelling simultaneously combines a provocative moral ambiguity with a satisfying and compelling narrative, which builds to a chilling, unforgettable climax.
