Rebecca Miller’s Moonsong set to star Elle Fanning and Julianne Moore
The Film Will Explore the Life of Children's Author, Margaret Wise Brown
Elle Fanning and Julianne Moore will star in Moonsong: A Life In Seven Verses, a new film from Rebecca Miller that tells the story of childrenโs book author Margaret Wise Brown.
Moonsong is based on the bookย Margaret Wise Brown: Awakened by the Moon by Leonard S. Marcus. It tells the story of Brown, an acclaimed children’s author, whose work includes Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny. Brown’s moniker, โthe laureate of the nursery,โ is a testament to her achievements in the industry, with her books still widely read in classrooms and homes today.
The project was brought to Miller and her producing partner at Round Films, Damon Cardasis, by Amanda Goodwin, Keri Selig and Sasha Alexander. It will be Millerโs ninth film she will direct, and will also write the screenplay.
Martin Scorsese will Executive Produce. Miller and Scorsese built a rapport during Miller’s time directing the five-part documentary Mr. Scorsese, which she won the DGA award for. The documentary also recently received 3 Emmy nominations, including one for Miller’s directing. Miller’s other accolades include three Emmy nominations, an Independent Spirit Award, and the Grand Jury prize at Sundance.
Fanning currently stars in and produces Margoโs Got Money Troubles. She recently earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance. Her upcoming projects include The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, and The Nightingale, which sheย stars in and produces alongside her sister, Dakota Fanning. She is currently in production on A24โs Discretion, opposite Nicole Kidman.
