Sony Pictures Classics Picks up Florian Zeller’s Bunker
As first reported by Deadline, Sony Pictures Classics has acquired the North American, Southeast Asian, and worldwide airline rights (excluding France) to Bunker, from Oscar-winning writer and director Florian Zeller.
Sony Pictures Classics negotiated the deal with CAA Media Finance and WME, which are handling domestic sales. FilmNation Entertainment is overseeing international sales. Pathé will distribute the film in France, Switzerland, and West Africa.
The upcoming drama-thriller brings together an impressive cast led by Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz, Stephen Graham, Paul Dano, and Patrick Schwarzenegger.
Bunker follows an architect who accepts a morally questionable commission to build a survival bunker for a tech billionaire. As the project progresses, his wife begins to question their 17-year marriage. There are plans to launch an awards campaign with a theatrical run at the end of this year before giving the film a wider release in early 2027.
The acquisition continues Sony Pictures Classics’ long-standing relationship with Zeller, following the releases of his Oscar-winning debut, The Father, and his second feature, The Son.
Federica Sainte-Rose produces Bunker for Blue Morning Pictures alongside Fernando Bovaira and Simon de Santiago for Mod Producciones. Alice Dawson also serves as a producer, while Pathé‘s Ardavan Safaee and Mediawan’s Pierre-Antoine Capton are co-producers. Mariano Cohn, Gaston Duprat, Andrés Duprat, Emanuel Nunez, Fernando Sokolowicz, and Helen Marti executive produce the project.
