Mummies animation from warner bros coming to UK cinema 31st March 2023

“They’re coming to the world of the living!” You can meet them in 2023, today you can watch the first UK Trailer for animated adventure Mummies!

If you enjoyed The Bangles song, ‘Walk like an Egyptian’ you might like the new version in this promo. This kids animation is the directorial feature debut for Spanish filmmaker Juan Jesús García Galocha. He has worked Tad The Explorer films as an artist, hence the visual style looking very similar to Tad films.

The voices of Joe Thomas, Eleanor Tomlinson, Santiago Winder, Celia Imrie all star here. We find there is a secret underground city in Egypt which mummies live in peace. However things are turned upside down for one family who find themselves transported to modern day London. Who must embark on an adventure to find an ancient ring that could get them home again.

Let’s be honest, I’m not the targeted demography. This looks more a direct to television or video animation than to cinema. This looks cheesy, if the kids love it it’s done it’s job. Now Sean Bean is voicing a character, will that character survive?

The film follows the fun adventures of three Egyptian mummies who live in an underground secret city, hidden in ancient Egypt. The trio includes a princess, a former charioteer, and his younger brother along with their pet baby crocodile. Through a series of unfortunate events, the mummies end up in present-day London and embark on a wacky and hilarious journey in search of an old ring belonging to the Royal Family, that was stolen by the ambitious archaeologist Lord Carnaby.

The rest of the voice cast includes Dan Starkey, Hugh Bonneville, Shakka and Sean Bean. Mummies will be in UK and Irish cinemas from 31st March 2023.
