The Streets Have A New Hero, Luke Cage Watch Netflix UK Trailer

Luke Cage

DC Comics might be having a rough time bringing their characters to the big screen, it’s a different story at Marvel Studios. Next month Marvel‘s successful partnership with Netflix continues when Harlem gets a new hero Luke Cage  and today we get a look at his official UK Trailer, check it out…

After making his Netflix debut in Jessica Jones Marvel’s streetwise heroes are about to expand when Cage gets his own series with Jones making a few appearances. What made Jessica Jones, Daredevil so successful is their direction of delivering shows with that dark, gritty tone aimed more at their mature fan base. themes that are more adult and what we can see Luke Cage will follow suit hopefully the same success too!

Mike Coulter will play the titular hero an ex-convict attempting to rebuild his life best he can. When inside he volunteers for a medical experiment it’s sabotaged leaving Luke super strength and unbreakable skin. Whilst he just wants to live a normal life as best he can, Luke is encouraged to used his special skills to his advantage. After facing his past he becomes a hero for hire.

What I really like about Netflix shows, is there giving a platform to the side of Marvel Universe that rarely gets a chance to shine in the Cinematic Universe. Some like Daredevil, Punisher have been in film however it was in the early days or pre-current MCU run, so sometimes TV/Streaming is the best way. It’s a direction that’s worked and has worked for the heroes like Cage (and Jones), the non spandex characters.

This new trailer does give us a big slice of bone crunching action but also his personal life too, with intros to the show’s main characters (good and bad). Those who followed the comic will like the point when Luke escapes from his ‘fishtank’ with gear that resembles his 1970’s powerman uniform. Sadly for hardcore fans that might just be the closest you’ll get to the original look. It’s a great time to be a Marvel fan!

Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Rosario Dawson, Frank Whaley, and Sônia Braga, season 1 of Marvel’s Luke Cage arrives on Netflix UK&Ireland from  September 30.
