Stephen Kalyn Joins Sydney Sweeney in The Housemaid’s Secret
Following a rise to stardom thanks to Prime Video’s Off Campus, actor Stephen Kalyn has reportedly joined the cast of The Housemaid’s Secret. This is the upcoming sequel to Paul Feig’s 2025 psychological drama, The Housemaid, based on Freida McFadden’s 2022 bestselling novel of the same name, starring Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney as a young, troubled woman seeking work as a housemaid in a home with dark secrets. Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar and Michele Morrone additionally starred in the first film, adapted for the screen by writer Rebecca Sonnenshine.
The Housemaid’s Secret will be based on the sequel book of the same title, published in 2023, which was then followed by a third book, The Housemaid is Watching, in 2024. Feig and Sonnenshine will return as director and writer, with cast members including Sweeney and Morrone reprising their roles from the first film, alongside newcomers Kirsten Dunst, Paul Anthony Kelly and Brittany Snow.
McLadden’s first book sold more than two million copies and went on to spend 83 weeks on Amazon’s best-seller list and 60 weeks on The New York Times trade paperback best-seller list. Freig’s film adaptation grossed a global total of $400.5 million thanks to US ticket sales of $126.4 million and international ones of $274.1 million.
Kalyn is set to appear in The Housemaid’s Secret as Brock, who is in a relationship with Sweeney’s Millie Calloway in the sequel, yet he is unaware of her dark, threatening past. The second film will focus on Sweeney’s character taking on a new housekeeping job, this time caring for a woman she is forbidden to see and intrigued by a mysterious locked door which masks a disturbing secret.

Lionsgate are set to release The Housemaid’s Secret in late 2027.
Kalyn’s debut acting role was in the Canadian medical drama, Transplant, in 2020. His first feature film role was in a television film titled The Perfect Wedding, before making his Netflix debut in 2023’s Canadian thriller film, Cascade, by director Egidio Coccimiglio. The film went on to receive a Canadian Screen Award nod for Best Original Score and was also one of the first independent Canadian features to hit the top ten in Canadian viewership in its debut weekend.
The actor’s additional film roles include Warrior Strong, Paying for It, Outstanding and Whistle, with series credits including the TV remake of Cruel Intentions, Gen Z and Motorheads.
The Housemaid’s Secret is due to hit cinemas 17th December, 2027.
