James Gunn Teases Lex Luthor Suit In Man of Tomorrow

The Superman sequel has begun filming with Braniac the film's big-bad.

Lex Luthor - Man Of Tomorrow

James Gunn, director of the forthcoming Superman film Man of Tomorrow, has posted a new look at Lex Luthor‘s famous purple and green war suit.

In sharing the image, Gunn wrote, “Fit check. Live from the set of Man of Tomorrow”. For those that don’t know, in the comics, the suit enables him to fight on a more level playing field with Superman. The suit, adapted from Kryptonian power armour, gives Luthor massive strength.

It also allows him to fight toe-to-toe with his archnemesis for short periods of time and weather Superman’s blows. It’s unclear at this stage about how it will be utilised in the movie, with the story rumoured to be about the next movie being about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together against a much, much bigger threat.

The film started production last month in lieu of its release next summer. The previous Superman film grossed over $616M around the world and was Gunn’s first major release for DC Studios, which is led by him and Peter Safran.

In Man of Tomorrow, David Corenswet is back as Superman, Nicholas Hoult returns as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan reprises as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, with new recruits Adria Arjona as Maxima, Aaron Pierre as Jon Stewart from Lanterns and Milly Alcock as Supergirl.

Man of Tomorrow is set for release on July 9th, 2027.
