James Gunn Teases More Of Man Of Tomorrow & Superman Saga; Says Milly Alcock His “Best Casting Ever”
James Gunn anticipates that Man of Tomorrow will take flight next April. The filmmaker, in an interview with Howard Stern, provided crucial updates on the recently announced sequel to this yearโs Superman.
โItโs a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threatโฆand itโs more complicated than that. Itโs as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie.โ
Nicholas Hoult was praised for his role as the villain; it makes sense to incorporate him in the sequel. Both Gunn and Hoult have teased Luthorโs growing prominence in the sequel with Instagram posts featuring the character in his renowned โwar-suit.โ In addition, suggestions are that Rachel Brosnahan will again be involved as Lois Lane.
Gunn also teased Clayface and TV series Lanterns with Stern, saying: “Clayface is a Batman foe, and it is a hardcore, R-rated body horror film, but within the same universe as Superman,” before adding that a face-off between “any of the Lanterns” and a caped Clark Kent would be “great”.
Gunn also said that the casting of Milly Alcockย as Supergirlย โmight be the best bit of casting Iโve done in my entire lifeโ
In a seperate interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn revealed the future of his self-titled โSuperman Sagaโ: โThe treatment is done, which means a very, very worked-out treatment. Iโm working on that and hopefully going into production on that not too far away from today.โ
April 2026 is seen as a potential filming start point, so fans may not have to wait long to see the Man of Steel once again.
Man of Tomorrowย is expected to release on July 9th, 2027.ย
