Hailee Steinfeld and Miles Teller Go For Gold in Olympics Pic ‘Winter Games’
After partaking in two of the biggest box-office successes of the 2020s, Hailee Steinfeld (Sinners) and Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick) are teaming up in Paramount’s Olympics film Winter Games.
This will be director Paul Downs Colaizzo‘s debut feature, collaborating with Pat Cunnane (Designated Survivor) to pen the script. Winter Games also marks a reunion for Teller and Cunnane as well as the producing team of Tim and Trevor White of Star Thrower, who all recently worked together on the A24 rom-com Eternity.
Winter Games follows perpetually overlooked skier (Steinfeld) and a self-sabotaging hockey legend (Teller) who collide at their breaking points. Their unexpected connection threatens each other’s chance of winning gold, as they navigate romance and redemption in the Olympic Village.
Steinfeld and Teller are both versatile and exciting actors. Steinfeld lent her voice to the character of Spider-Gwen in the animated Spider-Verse films, the first of which, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2019, and the second film, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, grossed over $680 million globally. Hailee Steinfeld is most recently coming off the exhilarating (and well-deserved!) success of Warner Bros’ Sinners, where she stars opposite Michael B. Jordan. The film has amassed $365 million at the global box office — including the $278 million domestic — making it the top-grossing original movie of the past 15 years and the fifth-highest-grossing horror movie of all time.
Teller is perhaps best known for his role as Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw in Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick, where he stars alongside Tom Cruise, which went on to become the fifth highest-grossing film of all time at the domestic box office. It earned $100 million in its opening weekend, grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide, and most importantly, is a The People’s Movies Team Favourite.
