“We’ve never faced a threat like this before” What if Aliens attack Earth in the shape your favourite retro video games how would you react? In the new UK trailer For Pixels, aliens have sent real life video games to pixelate us, Meet the Arcaders chosen to play for the planet…
Sony Pictures have released what maybe nerdy video game kids of 1980s wet dream but also a time to put those gaming maneuvers into practice. Will Adam Sandler haters give this movie a chance
In Pixels as kids in the 1980s, Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), Will Cooper (Kevin James), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Josh Gad), and Eddie “The Fire Blaster” Plant (Peter Dinklage) saved the world thousands of times – at 25 cents a game in the video arcades. Now, they’re going to have to do it for real. In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth, using the video games as the models for their assaults — and now-U.S. President Cooper must call on his old-school arcade friends to save the world from being destroyed by PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Centipede, and Space Invaders. Joining them is Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten (Michelle Monaghan), a specialist supplying the arcaders with unique weapons to fight the aliens.
The new trailer is mixture of recycled footage and new stuff, but as everyone knows the biggest stumbling block is an certain Mr Sandler. It’s hard to believe is the same actor who starred in Punch Drunk Love but that was a long time ago and his track record since then has been awful. Take him out of the equation this actually looks not bad and as Chris Columbus so we’ll give this the benefit of the doubt for now. This trailer sets up our understanding of the plot as well as the film’s main characters backgrounds but once again has Sandler been in this damaged the film’s potential? Possibly but if your a fan you could be in for treat this Summer.
Pixels stars Josh Gad, Ashley Benson and Brian Cox with the film arriving in UK&Ireland 12th August (USA 24th July).
