Watch Creepy Clip For You Are Not My Mother

Earlier this month one of our highlights of Glasgow Film Festival was Kate Dolan’s profoundly unsettling psychological thriller You Are Not My Mother. The Irish indie made it’s premiere originally at Toronto Film Festival as well as Dublin all with fantastic reviews.

We find ourselves in a working class North Dublin housing estate , Char’s mother disappears without any explanation she returns. Her mother is however different , not herself and Char is determined to find out the reason, only to unlock some dark family secrets.

Signature Entertainment will be releasing the film next month in the UK, they have sent us a creepy new clip which Char finally sees something that confirms that is not her mother!

You Are Not My Mother is a creepy and unsettling psychological thriller deeply rooted in Irish folklore. This highly-anticipated chiller – directed by Kate Dolan – debuted at Toronto International Film Festival to great acclaim and stars Carolyn Bracken (Dublin Murders), Paul Reid(Vikings, Ritual) and Hazel Doupe (Calm with Horses). Char’s mother, Angela, has inexplicably disappeared. All that remains is her abandoned car. When she returns home without explanation the following evening, it becomes clear to Char and her grandmother, Rita, that something is amiss. She might look and sound the same but Angela’s behaviour has become increasingly frightening, as if she has been replaced by a malevolent force. As Halloween night looms, a night steeped in ancient myth and legend, Char realises that she is the only one who can save her, even if it means potentially losing her forever. You Are Not My Mother won the Jury Prize at the 2022 Gérardmer International Fantasy Film Festival, and is due to screen at DIFF this month and GFF on 11th March.

The film stars  Aoife Spratt, Ingrid Craigie, Jade Jordan, Paul Reid, and Hazel Doupe .

You Are Not My Mother is out now in Irish Cinemas, It will be released in UK Cinemas and Digitally from 8th April.
