Vidyut Jammwal Stretches Into Legendary’s Street Fighter as Dhalsim
In a report from Deadline, it has been reported that Vidyut Jammwal is the latest to be joining Legendary’s upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie.
The latest adaptation from Legendary is a second attempt at bringing Street Fighter to the big screens, with the first releasing back in 1994. Vidyut Jammwal will be playing Dhalsim, a yogi-pacifist with fire-spitting abilities who joins the World Fighting Tournament to support his family. Dhalsim was first portrayed by Roshan Seth in the 1994 film and was originally introduced in the Capcom video game Street Fighter 2 back in 1991. Street Fighter will be directed by Kitao Sakurai, who previously directed Bad Trip.
Street Fighter will be Vidyut Jammwal’s Hollywood debut but he is well known in India for his Commando film series. Deadline also reported that Jammwal has been very particular about the project which he wanted to introduce himself to in Hollywood.
It has been previously announced that the Street Fighter cast will also include Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Joe Anoa’i as Akuma, Orville Peck as Vega, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, 50 Cent as Balrog, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guille, and Hirooki Goto as E. Honda.
While plot details are currently unknown, Street Fighter is a video game series that follows a diverse group of martial artists who battle in a 1-1 global tournament that’s organised by M. Bison, leader of the Shadaloo organisation.
