Tragedy Strikes In Pieces Of A Woman Trailer

PIECES OF A WOMAN (2020)

Nothing worse than a painful loss, I have to admit I’m going through one just now. A loss of a new born baby words cannot describe the pain like in Kornél Mundruczó’s Pieces Of A Woman. After navigating the remaining film festival circuit with such critical acclaim, Netflix kick off the marketing push with the film’s Official Trailer.

Vanessa Kirby and Shia LeBeouf play a young couple on the verge of parenthood. Tragedy strikes when the homebirth goes wrong. The pair are navigating through the stages of grief that threatens the couple’s relationship and the mental state of both and everyone around them.

This looks a very intense affair. As I said earlier I’m coping with a death in the family, my grief it’s not for a baby but a parent. Regardless of who it is the loss is indescribable we all cope in our own ways. There’s a big slice of Bergman from the who look and tone of the film. Kirby’s character Martha the film will focus on and she’s been winning a lot of praise including an award from Venice Film Festival. There’s even talk the English actress is in the running for the Oscars too.

Martha (Vanessa Kirby) and Sean (Shia LaBeouf) are a Boston couple on the verge of parenthood whose lives change irrevocably when a home birth ends in unimaginable tragedy. Thus begins a yearlong odyssey for Martha, who must navigate her grief while working through fractious relationships with Sean and her domineering mother (Ellen Burstyn), along with the publicly vilified midwife (Molly Parker), whom she must face in court. Directed by Kornél Mundruczó (WHITE GOD, winner of the 2014 Prix Un Certain Regard Award), written by Kata Wéber, and executive produced by Martin Scorsese, PIECES OF A WOMAN is a deeply personal, searing, and ultimately transcendent story of a woman learning to live alongside her loss.

The film also stars Ellen Burstyn, Molly Parker, Sarah Snook, Iliza Shlesinger, Benny Safdie, and Jimmie Fails. Martin Scorsese is on board as an executive producer.

Pieces Of A Woman will have a limited UK and Irish Cinema release from 30th December. Then on 7th January 2021 the film will launch globally on Netflix.
