The Stath Vs.Megalodon In The Meg First Trailer

In 1975 Steven Spielberg terrified cinephiles would never go in the water again with Jaws. It set the standard for Shark themed films, The likes of the shallows showed there was life be it, it only scratched the surface. Later this summer The Meg will be pleased to eat and today Warner Bros. Pictures has released the First UK Trailer.

Jason Statham stars as Jonas Taylor a Deep Sea rescue captain who is sent into dangerous waters to rescue the crew of a stranded submersible. That crew has been attacked by the once thought extinct the Megalodon shark. Check out the trailer below and Poster which teases the size of the shark…

This looks like the Deep Blue Sea for the 21st Century cinephile. Ridiculously silly and the trailer doesn’t hide from the fact this will be one crazy film. It won’t be really challenging for Awards (maybe Special FX ones), and this looks like one of those films to give your brain a rest. Possibly a 4DX treat?

A deep-sea submersible—part of an international undersea observation program—has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific…with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below…bringing him face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time.

The Meg will devour the UK, Irish and U.S Cinemas from 10th August.

The Megalodon Shark will also chomp on the following cast of Jessica McNamee, Li Bingbing, Winston Chao, Ruby Rose, Rainn Wilson, Cliff Curtis, Masi Oka, Page Kennedy, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and Robert Taylor. National Treasure‘s Jon Turteltaub is directing this one based on a script by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac).
