Angry man with gun at roadside

Pigeon Shrine  FrightFest have announced Colm McCarthy‘s Bagman is set to be replaced by the restored version of The Hitcher in 4K.

It was only last week the dark heart of cinema announced Bagman filled the empty gap of this years festival. Unfortunately due to circumstance beyond their control Lionsgate Films have pulled the film which is due for UK cinema release in September.

Robert Harmon‘s 1986 film is considered a classic film in the genre. Second Sight Films have for the past few years attempting to restore this film, however many problems have prevented this getting released. Thankfully that release will be happening sooner than later and Pigeon Shrine FrightFest looks the prefect place to premiere.

This one stars C. Thomas Howell, Rutger Hauer, Jennnifer Jason Leigh, Jeffrey DeMunn. One of Rugter Hauer’s many iconic film roles next to Roy Batty’s Blade Runner

Second Sight Films’ highly anticipated 4K remaster of Robert Harmon’s cult thriller is finally unleashed. No sooner does naïve Jim Halsey pick up highway menace John Ryder, he’s stalked by the icy superpsycho and framed for his serial crimes. Waitress Nash tries to help the persecuted victim but the overly suspicious  twists and mounting body count rev the shocks into high homicidal gear. Overseen and approved by the director, this stunning new 4K presentation is a revelation and will wow audiences with its incredibly rich detail and stunning colours. The wait is over, you’ve never seen THE HITCHER like this!

The Hitcher 4K will make it’s world premiere at Friday night in the Main screen at 8.30pm. You can grab your tickets at the festival’s website here, If you are unable to attend, Second Sight Films will release The Hitcher on 30th September on 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray and special collectors edition.
