“Choose  Life…“, 20 years ago would we think we where about to watch a cult movie in the making as Spud and Renton run from the police down Princess Street, Edinburgh. That was Danny Boyle‘s Trainspotting and in 2017 the long awaited sequel Trainspotting 2 aka T2 is finally coming and this afternoon Sony are teasing us with a short UK Teaser Trailer,’Choose Watch’…
After years of the original cast telling the press they will return but only when the time is right they will do it and 2016 the time is right. The footage is brief it’s really anything but announcement trailer to the world…the gang are back! What we see is the original film’s iconic orange colours, but as the Train speeds away from the platform we meet the boys all together again. It might look nothing to the untrained eye but it’s echoing a famous scene from the original film with Renton (Ewan McGregor), Spud (Ewan Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle) now older hopefully wiser.
What we do know is T2 is based around Irvine Welsh‘s Porno but how much of the book it will follow we don’t really know at this stage.We could say it’s going to be more ‘loosely based’ than a complete adaptation, as those who have followed the film’s history from script to soon big screen adapting it wasn’t going to be easy. Moving from heroin industry to the porn business is going to be curious to see how far they will go. Danny Boyle make take a more subtle approach whilst the book version might be more hardcore. Begbie now out of prison what is keeping him launching at Sick Boy? Iggy Pop‘s Lust For Life is once again making us lust the return of Trainspotting!
T2 aka Trainspotting 2 will arrive in UK&Irish cinemas on 27th January 2016 courtesy Sony Pictures (USA released 1 week later).
