Unexpectedly, production on the Warner Bros and DC Studios The Batman Part II has been paused as a result of director Matt Reeves stepping away for personal reasons.
Reeves returned to his role of director for the sequel, following on from the first The Batman in 2022, which saw Robert Pattinson take on the titular superhero role.
Deadline reports that on Monday the studio released a statement saying; “Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter,”. Finishing their statement saying “Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.”
Filming had been actively taking place across London and Glasgow for the past few months. The film is set to release on 18th February, 2028 following its original pushback from 2025. Multiple sources say they are unsure whether the pause on production will affect the film’s release date.
Pattinson, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell are set to return to their original roles as Batman, Alfred and Penguin. Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Jayme Lawson, Charles Dance, Gil Perez-Abraham and Sebastian Koch are just some of the names set to be joining the cast.
