Ted Lasso Season 4 Trailer Drops

The world premiere of the fourth season of Ted Lasso was held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on Monday night. For those of us unable to make it, fear not! Apple TV has released the official trailer for the upcoming season, ahead of its August 5th release.

Season 4 sees the return of beloved football coach, Ted Lasso, to Richmond FC. It’s an exciting new chapter for the loveable Lasso, who hung up his coaching boots back in May 2023 to return home to Kansas. Season 3 seemed to serve as a natural conclusion to this series, which first premiered in 2020. While it might have marked the end of Lasso’s career coaching men’s football, this new season sees Lasso “taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team”.

It’s clear that they don’t want to give too much away too soon. The official synopsis simply states: “Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.” Intriguing.

Jason Sudekis returns as everyone’s favourite football coach, in the titular role of Ted Lasso. Also reprising their roles are Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift. New additions to the cast include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, and Aisling Sharkey. Abbie Hern and Grant Feely also join the cast.

While this trailer reveals no major spoilers, we see Keeley’s wholesome friendships with Ted and Rebecca blossom, Reynolds joining Lasso and Coach pitch-side, Roy navigating his dynamic with Keeley following their split, and the team and crowd celebrating the new, female squad’s victories.

Ted Lasso will launch on August 5th worldwide with one episode, followed by new episodes every Wednesday until October 7th on Apple TV.

The series is executive produced by Sudeikis alongside Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee and Bill Wrubel. Jack Burditt (Nobody Wants This) joins them this season under a new deal with Apple TV. Goldstein is writer and executive producer alongside Leann Bowen. Sarah Walker and Phoebe Walsh are writers and producers for season four; Sasha Garron co-produces. Julia Lindon will write for season four, and Dylan Marron will serve as story editor.

Bill Lawrence (Shrinking) executive produces via his Doozer Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television. Doozer’s Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer also serve as executive producers. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly and Hunt.
