Watch The Epic Final Trailer For Laika’s Wildwood

When it comes to promoting film’s Laika‘s marketing for their next film, Wildwood have let the trailers do the talking. Now we have one final Trailer and once again it’s delivering and what we have is epic!

After the mess that was Masters Of The Universe, Travis Knight is back in his comfort zone and potentially back on the right track. Knight’s Kubo And The Two Strings is a fantastic underrated film, and his latest showcases Laika‘s trademark handcrafted animated style. It’s refreshing to see an animation studio still use traditional styles in a time plagued by digital animation.

The latest Wildwood trailer dives deep into the story teasing many of the colorful creatures that live in the fantasy world. What this promo does do is highlight Prue McKeel’s journey into the hidden world and the escalating stakes of her quest to bring her brother home.

The film’s voice cast includes Carey Mulligan, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Richard E. Grant, Awkwafina, Amandla Stenberg, Tom Waits, Charlie Day, Blythe Danner, Arthur Knight, Maya Erskine, Jake Johnson, Tantoo Cardinal, Rob Delaney, Jemaine Clement, Marc Evan Jackson, Len Cariou, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, plus Angela Bassett and Mahershala Ali.

Synopsis | Set just beyond Portland, Oregon, Wildwood begins when headstrong teenager Prue McKeel’s baby brother is abducted by a murder of crows and carried into the Impassable Wilderness — a hidden forest that most people don’t know exists.

Prue follows.

Joined by her loyal but hapless classmate Curtis Mehlberg, she crosses into a world unlike anything she knows: a vast and unpredictable wilderness of talking animals, bandits, ancient powers and rival factions, all caught in a struggle for the future of Wildwood.

As Prue ventures deeper into the forest, what begins as a rescue becomes something much larger. To bring her brother home, she will have to navigate a world with its own histories, loyalties and secrets — and discover why she was drawn there in the first place.

Laika‘s Wildwood will be released by Black Bear Pictures in UK and Irish cinemas on 23rd October.  Before then the film makes it’s UK premiere at BFI London Film Festival on 11th October.
