Anne Hathaway, Adam Driver's 'Alone At Dawn’ Gets Release Date

Director Ron Howard‘s next feature film, American war drama Alone at Dawn, now has a release date. According to Deadline, the film will start a platform release through Amazon MGM Studios in U.S. cinemas on Christmas Day next year, before expanding on January 7th, 2028, and getting a wide break the following weekend.

The upcoming film is based on the true story of U.S. Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman and his fight to the death to save his fellow soldiers during the 2002 Battle of Takur Ghar in Afghanistan. Years later, an intelligence officer strives to prove his valour, leading an investigation that would ultimately secure Chapman the Medal of Honor.

Oscar winner Anne Hathaway (The Odyssey, Les Misérables), two-time Oscar nominee Adam Driver (Marriage Story, BlacKkKlansman), newly-minted Emmy winner Betty Gilpin (Widow’s Bay, The Hunt), and Devon Bostick (Oppenheimer, Diary of a Wimpy Kid) all star in the film.

No word yet, however, on the roles each actor will play.

Michael Russell Gunn‘s screenplay is adapted from the 2019 book by Dan Schilling and Lori Longfritz. Producers on the film include Imagine Entertainment, Hideaway Entertainment, and Thruline Entertainment, along with Kristy Grisham, William Connor, and Patrick Newall.

Howard’s recent film director credits include 2024’s Eden, 2022’s Thirteen Lives, 2020’s Hillbilly Elegy and 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. He is also set to produce Josh Greenbaum’s Spaceballs: The New One in 2027, as a sequel to 1987’s Spaceballs by Mel Brooks.

So far, next year’s Christmas Day release schedule isn’t full yet. The only other film currently slated is Warner Bros’ Nancy Meyers-directed feature.

However, Avengers: Secret Wars, New Line’s The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, and Lionsgate’s The Housemaid’s Secret are all set to release the week before, on December 17th, 2027.

A UK and Ireland release date for Alone at Dawn has not been finalised.
