Netflix Unveils Release Date, First Look At Pride & Prejudice

It is a truth universally acknowledged that, despite several Pride & Prejudice adaptations over the years, we still can’t get enough of Mr. Darcy. Thankfully, we don’t have much longer to wait until he’s back on our screens alongside Elizabeth Bennet.

Netflix has officially set 3rd December as the premiere date for its upcoming adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel.

The official logline for the six-part limited series reads: “When wealthy bachelors arrive in their neighbourhood, the five Bennet sisters must navigate love, family, and society’s expectations to secure their futures. Jane falls for the charming Mr. Bingley, while Elizabeth clashes with his proud friend Mr. Darcy – but unexpected encounters and family scandals force Elizabeth to reconsider her feelings and discover the true nature of love.”

Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Jack Lowden (Slow Horses) star as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, respectively, with Olivia Colman (The Favourite) and Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat) playing Mrs. and Mr. Bennet. Freya Mavor (Industry) joins the cast as Jane Bennet—and Daryl McCormack (Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery) as Mr. Bingley.

The caliber of a cast also includes Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet, Hollie Avery as Kitty Bennet, Hopey Parish as Mary Bennet, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham, Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins, Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine d Bourg, Siena Kelly as Caroline Bingley, Liz Kingsman as Anna De Bourgh, and Jasmine Blackborow as Charlotte Lucas.

Netflix’s new adaptation of Pride & Prejudice is written by Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love) and directed by Euros Lyn (Heartstopper), who both also serve as executive producers alongside Emma Corrin, Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point. The series is produced by Lisa Osborne.
