Watch The Dramatic Trailer For Apple’s Tenzing

History remembers the summit, but not always the man who made it possible. Behold Apple TV unveil the dramatic and powerful trailer for Tenzing.

Many have tried, succeeded others have failed, but thanks to one man Tenzing Norgay no one would have reached the summit of Mount Everest. Jennifer Peedom who has made a name as an documentary filmmaker with films focused climbing directs her feature debut. Finally giving a face to the Himalayan climber next to Edmund Hillary who made it possible to reach Everest’s summit.

The film stars Genden Phuntsok as Tenzing Norgay, Tom Hiddleston as Sir Edmund Hillary, Willem Dafoe as John Hunt the British expedition team leader, Caitríona Balfe as Jill Henderson, and Thinley Lhamo as Dawa Norgay, Tenzing’s first wife.

The film has played several film festivals including Telluride and Toronto and the opinion has been fantastic. Many stating this is a film that is just about the climbing, it’s much more.

Synopsis | Based on true events, “Tenzing” chronicles the little-known story of Tenzing Norgay (Genden Phuntsok), a gifted Himalayan climber who, alongside New Zealand mountaineer Edmund Hillary (Tom Hiddleston), became the first to summit Mount Everest. Encouraged by his wife Dawa (Thinley Lhamo), Tenzing finds an ally in expedition secretary Jill Henderson (Caitríona Balfe). Together, they persuade Colonel John Hunt (Willem Dafoe) that Tenzing belongs on the British climbing team, rather than merely serving it. Where Western climbers see “Everest” as something to be conquered, Tenzing reveres “Chomolungma” as the sacred mother goddess. What follows is an ascent defined as much by the tensions between backgrounds, classes and competing ambitions as by the perils of the mountain itself. But high above the world, empire, rank and aspiration fall away, leaving two outsiders bound by mutual respect and trust — and for Tenzing, the fulfillment of both a lifelong dream and a spiritual calling. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Jennifer Peedom, “Tenzing” is a story of greatness that refuses to be diminished — and the love that makes it possible.

Apple TV will give Tenzing a limited cinema release on 9th October with the film premiering on the streaming service a week later on 16th October.
