Can you still Iggy Pop’s ‘Lust For Life‘ playing in your head or are you still ‘Born Slippy‘ with Underworld? 20 years after Danny Boyle‘s cult Trainspotting, we finally get the sequel T2: Trainspotting as the boys reunite for one more slice of the chaotic pie.
Once again Renton chooses life back to his hometown of Edinburgh, Spud is well is just Spud but delighted to see Renton again. So what about Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller)? In a brand new featurette courtesy of Sony Pictures, we find out what he’s been doing …
It may have been 2 decades and a lot can happen in that time, he may not be the same type drug user anymore but he’s no saint either. He still mingles in the drugs but only as a dealer, alongside been a pimp, an all round entrepreneur. As you’ll see in the video the world today is not the same world when we first met Sickboy 20 years previously.
First, there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal.Twenty years have gone by.Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle).Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.
Could Sickboy’s use of women for ‘business purposes’ be the movie’s nod to Porno the Irvine Welsh novel which the sequel is meant to be based off? Will they make that ‘porn movie’ from the book? When he meets Renton it’s a reunion which has plenty of fisticuffs, now Begbie is out of prison we can expect it won’t be a happy reunion too. Do we know some compromise happens as we see the foursome together could choose life be chosen Porn industry or something else?
T2: Trainspotting is set for a 27th January UK& Irish cinema release and will also star Kelly McDonald, James Cosmo and Shirley Henderson.
