The Super Bowl is one of the most-watched television broadcasts in America, which means year after year advertisers pay top-dollar so their product can reach as many people as possible. Films are no exception to this, with the big blockbusters for the year showcasing their new trailers. Of course this year wasn’t any different, and we have rounded up a selection of the trailers so you can view them all in one place.
Jurassic World – UK Release – 12th June 2015
One of the most anticipated blockbusters of the year, Jurassic World continues the well-loved Jurassic Park trilogy, and sees the park open for business with actual paying customers. As normally happens in these sort of scenarios, things start to go wrong. Starring actor of the moment, Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Lego Movie) the new trailer shows him apparently controlling a trio of raptors amidst a highly entertaining minute or so of footage.
Terminator Genisys – UK Release – 3rd July 2015
With the tagline ‘He’s Back’ on a new Terminator film poster, it can only mean one thing – yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back, and still trying to stop the future from happening. The action-packed trailer shows Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor in this new timeline, with Arnie helping her to try to stop ‘Judgement Day’ from happening.
Furious 7 – UK Release – 3rd April 2015
Furious 7 was originally set for release last Summer, however due to the tragic death of the lead Paul Walker, the film was postponed. The film focuses on Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) who seeks revenge against Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) for the death of his brother. Judging from the trailer, the film goes down the familiar Fast and the Furious road, with lots of fast cars, explosive action, and scantily-clad women.
Minions – UK Release – 26th June 2015
The incredibly popular Despicable Me sidekicks have now got their own film, seeing the lovable yellow creatures back in the Sixties as they try to find a new leader. The trailer doesn’t actually show any footage from the film, seeing the minions drink, cheer, and er…lose their pants, it serves more as a reminder to people, that there is an upcoming minion film.
Tomorrowland – UK Release – 22nd May 2015
Directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol) and starring George Clooney, Tomorrowland is a Disney theme park tie-in, that sees former boy-genius Clooney take a teen science prodigy (Britt Robertson) on a journey to explore Tomorrowland, a mysterious space site. If that sounds vague it’s because it is. Not much is known about the film, and not much is given away in the trailer, with that being said though, the footage looks very good indeed.
Pitch Perfect 2 – UK Release – 15th May 2015Â
The follow-up to the 2012 hit sees the Barden Bellas take to the world stage to compete in an a capella international contest. Directed by Elizabeth Banks (who was also in the first film), and seeing the original cast including Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson return, this looks like it could be as popular as the first. The new footage shows a singing battle, and some of Rebel Wilson‘s classic one-liners.
Fifty Shades of Grey – UK Release – 13th February
There is not long to wait until Fifty Shades of Grey hits our screens, and a newly edited trailer has been presented for the Super Bowl. The film focuses on naive Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and her encounters, sexual and otherwise, with “handsome, yet tormented” billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). The book was already a worldwide phenomenon, and this new trailer boasts the previous one has been viewed 250 million times.
