Spinal Tap II: The End Continues New Trailer Arrives

Mockumentary Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, the long-awaited sequel to the 1984 classic, is arriving later this year, with the trailer unveiled at Comic-Con.

The film stars the returning Nigel Tufnel, David St. Hubbins, and Derek Smalls, who are back as the heavy metal band Spinal Tap. It follows the band as they reunite after a 15-year hiatus for one final concert, and they are just as rowdy as ever.

As seen in the trailer, cameos include the likes of Elton John, Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. There are also appearances from Paul Shaffer, Fran Drescher, Don Lake, John Michael Higgins, Nina Conti, Griffin Matthews, Kerry Godliman and Chris Addison.

This is Spinal Tap (1984) was almost the defining “mockumentary” that many have tried to imitate. It has become the very definition of a cult hit, and its influence on film, television and music remains.

The film is directed and written by Reiner, alongside co-writers Christopher Guest and Michael McKean.

Spinal Tap II is produced by Reiner, Michele Reiner and Matthew George and financed under Castle Rock Entertainment. Derrick J. Rossi PhD, Hernan Narea, Jonathan Fuhrman and Christopher H. Warner executive produced the film.

According to Deadline, the 41st anniversary rerelease of This Is Spinal Tap grossed $1 million for a total lifetime accumulation of $5.8M.
