Sony Planning Sinister Six And Venom Spin-Off Films
It’s been a nerd’s paradise the past week especially after the release of last week’s Amazing Spiderman 2 trailer launch which strengthened the rumour The Sinister Six will be on our big screens but not as we first thought.
It’s not bad news at all as it seems Marvel moguls Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach want to expand Spiderman’s universe into filmland by giving some of his known villains with stand alone films for Sinister Six plus Venom! With Spiderman films three, four already planned it seems Sony agrees with Spidey’s bosses that they already have Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon ย all ready to bring these films to the big screen.
“Until now, we have approached each film as a separate, self-contained entity“, explained Arad and Tolmach in a statement, “but with this move, we have the opportunity to grow the franchise by looking to the future as we develop a continuous arc for the story.”
Drew Goddard who will be in charge of Netflix’s Daredevil series seems to been offered the directors chair on Sinister Six a film he will script first and after the success of Cabin In The Woods I think no one will complain if does direct.
Whilst this news is fantastic it doesn’t mean Sinister Six (maybe even Venom) won’t make a appearance in The Amazing Spiderman 2 film, the recent trailer suggests that appearance could be done in a way to set up the spin off movie. If anything the groups appearance could ย only in a end scene or post credit in the spirit of Marvel’s phase 1/2 scenes.
