The courage helps Liesel to keep a soul pure (the Book Thief)

The studio that brought you “Life of Pi” comes with a new masterpiece this February. The book called “The Book Thief”, written by Markus Zusak, is now screened into a movie, which is going to conquer your hearts and minds. The new movie has an absolutely outstanding cast, starring Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson, Sophie Nelisse and many other talented actors. The story of it tells us the life of a girl, named Liesel, who at the time of the Second World War, in Germany, lost all her relatives and was adopted by a new family.

 The foster family had a secret that was totally against the Nazi rules. They kept a boy, named Max, who was Jewish, in the basement of their house. The father, Hans played by the great Geoffrey Rush, was a good friend to the family of Max and this is why he gave him a shelter. Liesel goes to the new school and is being ridiculed by her colleagues because she had a poor education and she could not read. So her father starts to teach her the beauty of the words and slowly she starts learning not only to read but also how to understand the words.

 Liesel is a blonde pretty girl, with blue eyes, who had a big courage and bravery. Even if she did not know how to read she stole a book. That is why she is called a Book Thief. Liesel starts to have a special caring relationship with Max, as she brings to him the books she had stolen. He is now like an older brother to her. They both develop an extraordinary love for words, ideas and literature. Liesel inspires hope and teaches that being courageous, even in the hardest times, is always helping. The courage can help her and other people keep the soul pure and to not let it be influenced by the outside chaos.

 Directed by the very talented Brian Percival, The Book Thief becomes a totally new approach in presenting the Second World War, and its effects on the Nazi Germany and on the ordinary people who tried to keep a normal way of living in those desperate times.

The Book Thief is definitely going to enter your hearts and it will make you understand that the hope should never be lost.
