Sense And Sensibility Adaptation Adds Esmé Creed-Miles To Cast
In a report from Deadline, it has been announced that Esmé Creed-Miles will join Daisy Edgar-Jones for the upcoming Sense and Sensibility adaptation for Focus Features and Working Title Films.
This new adaptation of the Jane Austen classic will see Miles playing Marianne Dashwood, who was previously portrayed by Kate Winslet in Ang Lee’s 1995 movie. The remake is being directed by Georgia Oakley, who broke onto the scene with her 2022 directorial debut Blue Jean, and features a script from bestselling author Diana Reid. Miles will be starring alongside Edgar-Jones (Twisters, On Swift Horses), who is set to play Elinor Dashwood.
Esmé Creed-Miles posted photos on Instagram of her with the novel as a subtle way of announcing her joining the project. Creed-Miles came to promience for her lead role in the TV adaptation of Hanna as well as her roles in British independent films such as Silver Haze, Pond Life, andDark River.
Austen’s original novel was published anonymously with the byline reading “By A Lady”. Sense and Sensibility follows sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood as they navigate love, loss and financial uncertainty amid the societal expectations of 18th-century England.
The project will be yet another collaboration between Focus and Working Title on a piece of Austen’s work, following 2005’s Pride & Prejudice, starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen and 2020’s Emma, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Johnny Flynn and Mia Goth, to mention a few. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner from Working Title will produce the movie with India Flint of November Pictures and Jo Wallett.
