Selma First Trailer Deliver U.S A Valuable History Lesson

One small dream can lead to some pretty major things and In the first trailer for Ava Duvernay‘s Selma, U.S.A learn a valuable history and setting up another British actor for possible Oscar glory.

Selma is the  first biopic based around the civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr and his journey from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama ,fighting for equal voting rights in 1965.The name may not sound familiar to those not upto scratch in American Civil Rights but the town (Selma) was the turning point. David Oyelowo plays the titular role in a performance that will have Academy judges weak at their knees with excitement.

This trailer delivers alot of tense moments and director Duvernay promises to showcase the man Martin Luther King rather than just the public face we know about. Lee Daniels was original up for directing Selma but hand the reigns over to Duvernay last year who has re-worked Paul Webb’s screenplay rich with historical tone and value. Like the TV advert where Tom Hiddleston, Ben Kingsley, Mark Strong ask why do British actors always play the bad guys? You could also ask why do the British actors (Chiwetel Ejiofor, Idris Elba, David Oyelowo)always play the historial/politica figures in society’s history? Because there so damn good!

Selma will be released in UK on 6th February 2015 co-stars Oprah Winfrey (also a producer with Brad Pitt), Common, Giovanni Ribisi, Carmen Ejogo, Dylan Baker, Wendell Pierce and Cuba Gooding Jr.

Synopsis
SELMA is the story of a movement. The film chronicles the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition. The epic march from Selma to Montgomery culminated in President Johnson (Tom Wilkinson) signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, one of the most significant victories for the civil rights movement. Director Ava DuVernay’s SELMA tells the story of how the revered leader and visionary Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (David Oyelowo) and his brothers and sisters in the movement prompted change that forever altered history.
