Riley Keough’s War Pony Gets A UK Trailer

War Pony out in the UK and Ireland from 9th June 2023

Picturehouse Entertainment have released the UK Trailer for Riley Keough‘s directorial feature War Pony.

After making it’s award winning world premiere at 2022 Cannes Film Festival and more recently the surprise film at Glasgow Film Festival, Picturehouse Entertainment kick off it’s UK Promotion.

War Pony tells story of two Oglala Lakota people who have their lives interwoven on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Both searching for the same thing despite being at different stages of their lives.

I was at the Glasgow Film Festival screening which the response was good. However whilst the film shows respect, the plot at times felt very unconvincing. It’s a harsh reality, the film moves at a snails pace and very little happens leaving you disappointed .

Stunning, tender and utterly compelling, WAR PONY tells the interlocking stories of two Oglala Lakota men coming of age on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

At 23, Bill (Jojo Bapteise Whiting) just wants to make something of himself. Whether it’s syphoning gas, delivering goods or breeding Poodles, he is determined to carve his way to the “American Dream”. Meanwhile, 12-year-old Matho (LaDainian Crazy Thunder) can’t wait to become a man. Desperate for approval from his young, unavailable father, a series of destructive decisions turns Matho’s life upside down and he finds himself unequipped to deal with the harsh realities of the adult world.

A powerful tale of life, hope and belonging on the Reservation. Featuring spellbinding performances from first-time actors Jojo Bapteise Whiting and LaDainian Crazy Thunder, and created over a period of several years, in collaboration with members of the Pine Ridge Reservation.

The cast include a mix of first time and established actors, Jojo Bapteise Whiting and LaDainian Crazy Thunder, Wilma Colhof, Jeremy Corbin Cottier, Woodrow Lone Elk, and Sprague Hollander.

War Pony will be in UK and Irish cinemas from 9th June.
