First Trailer For Long-Mooted Red Sonja Remake Arrives!
Samuel Goldwyn Films has released the first trailer for the long-mooted remake of Red Sonja, which you can view below!
Reportedly in development hell since 2008 when Robert Rodriguez was set to make the film with Rose McGowan, the film is finally seeing the light of day under the direction of MJ Bassett, director of Deathwatch and Silent Hill: Revelation.
Matilda Lutz, star of Revenge (The Substance director Coralie Fargeat’s debut film), is Sonja alongside Martyn Ford, Robert Sheehan, Wallis Day, Michael Bisping, Philip Winchester, Trevor Eve, Luca Pasqualino and former Tomb Raider Rhona Mitra.
Synopsis:
Enslaved by an evil tyrant who wishes to destroy her people, barbarian huntress Red Sonja must unite a group of unlikely warriors to face off against Dragan The Magnificent and his deadly bride, Dark Annisia.
The original film was released in 1985 and starred Brigitte Nielsen as Red Sonja and Arnold Schwarzenegger in a token supporting role that came off his success with Conan, although he plays a different character here, despite it pretty much being Conan. But we digress. Schwarzenegger, in fact, hates the film, and he once stated that if his kids ever misbehaved, their punishment would be to watch Red Sonja ten times over.
Signature Entertainment has the UK rights and are due to release the film later this year.

Red Sonja is due in US cinemas on August 15th and on digital platforms from August 29th.
