'Off Campus' Star Joins Sydney Sweeney in 'Hollow'

Deadline has reported that Belmont Cameli is set to join Sydney Sweeney in Sony Pictures’ adaptation of Hollow. The movie is based on filmmaker Lindsey Anderson Beer’s forthcoming debut novel of the same name. It is described as a ‘feminist reimagining’ of Washington Irving’s 1820 The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. It will be published by Putnam, an imprint of Penguin Random House, in autumn 2027.

Beer is attached to direct the film and will also be producing with her Lab Brew production company. LuckyChap and Sweeney’s production company Honey Trap will also produce. Hollow is Honey Trap’s first film as producer. The newly launched company, which has Kaylee McGregor serving as President of Production and Development, recently announced a first-look deal with Sony Pictures.

Beer’s novel is centred around the perspective of Katrina Van Tassel, played by Sweeney in the film. The novel positions Van Tassel not as a romantic prize but as the central figure in a dangerous mystery and seductive supernatural love triangle. The story blends gothic atmosphere, psychological intrigue and erotic thriller elements into a contemporary retelling of the classic tale.

Back in July, it was reported that casting for Brom Bones and Ichabod Crane was still to be confirmed. Now that Cameli is fixed as Bones, pressure is mounting for the casting of Crane to be announced.

Cameli’s casting comes as no surprise off the back of his success in a breakout role in Prime Video series Off Campus, which had 36 million viewers in its first 12 days of streaming. He has also recently starred in Until Dawn and The Alto Knights.

As for Sweeney, she recently took on a major transformation for her role as boxer Christy Martin in Christy. David Michôd directed this for Black Bear Pictures, and Sweeney produced. Her performance in Christy earned critical acclaim.

Beer previously directed the Stephen King adaptation Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, which broke Paramount+ records for viewership. She also wrote and executive produced the Cyrano de Bergerac retelling Sierra Burgess is a Loser, which debuted on Netflix at No. 1 globally. Her company, Lab Brew, has a first-look deal with Paramount Skydance.
