Nicolas Cage’s New Madden Trailer Looks Inspired By ‘SNL’

He was the face of many generations of American Football fans; he’s got video games, now a film. Prime Video have released full trailer for Madden and the burning question is the John Madden film a Saturday Night Sketch?

No fan of the NFL needs an introduction, the former Raiders coach come commentator. Nicolas Cage has done everything now a football legend with Christian Bale as our titular character’s best friend, Al Davis. Madden is the story of the icon and how his friend Davis would guide the Raiders to Super Bowl glory. To becoming the voice of the game globally and to even having his own video game.

David O. Russell gave us Silver Linings Playbook, Three Kings, American Hustle, all great films. However, his last film was Amsterdam, which was messy and unfocused; there are some concerns with Madden. Not always a good sign when films go directly to streaming services. This trailer does show why it’s heading to Prime Video; this looks more like a comedy, with the cast looking more like they’re inspired by an SNL Sketch. If there’s some Cage rage, we might forgive.

The film also stars Kathryn Hahn, Sienna Miller, John Mulaney, Joel Murray and Shane Gillis.

Madden will be streaming globally on Prime Video on 18th November.
