No Fun And Games In The Kitchen First Trailer

When you look at the cast for The Kitchen, Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elisabeth Moss, Two out of three are comedians…Is it a comedy? Hell no! McCarthy and Haddish drop the Jokes for some serious gritty crime as they take on the mob alongside Moss.

Based on the DC Vertigo Comics (created by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle) , it’s Hell’s Kitchen, New York 1978. Our three leading ladies are wives of mobsters sent to jail by the FBI. They decide to take on the Irish mafia from taking them out or running rackets.

We’ve already seen McCarthy prove she can seriously act in the underrated Can You Ever Forgive Me?  Haddish however its new ground and from this Trailer she’s delivering.The one downside this film may face is it’s similarities to Steve McQueen‘s Widows. However The Kitchen feels more like its focusing on what the three women have to do rather than a character piece which Widows was all about.

The gritty, female-driven mob drama “The Kitchen,” from New Line Cinema and BRON Creative, was written and directed by Andrea Berloff, who was nominated for an Oscar for the original screenplay for “Straight Outta Compton.”

“The Kitchen” stars Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?” “Bridesmaids”), Tiffany Haddish (“Girls Trip”), and Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) as three 1978 Hell’s Kitchen housewives whose mobster husbands are sent to prison by the FBI. Left with little but a sharp axe to grind, the ladies take the Irish mafia’s matters into their own hands—proving unexpectedly adept at everything from running the rackets to taking out the competition…literally.

The film also stars Domhnall Gleeson, James Badge Dale, Brian d’Arcy James with Margo Martindale, Common , Bill Camp ,as well as Jeremy Bobb, E.J. Bonilla, Wayne Duvall, Annabella Sciorra and, Myk Watford.

The Kitchen will be in UK and Irish cinemas from 20th September.
