New Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Reveals Yoshi’s Big Screen Debut
Nintendo is aiming for the stars once again, releasing the new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie with a first look at Yoshi.
The film will serve as a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, bringing back several fan favourite characters with much of the original cast returning, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. The film will also introduce the previously announced new cast members, with Brie Larson joining as Rosalina and Benny Safdie voicing Bowser Jr.
The newly released trailer was revealed during a Nintendo Direct and opens with an extended look at Mario and Luigi riding motorbikes over a desert, heading towards an inverted pyramid in the Sand Kingdom in an attempt to unlock a rogue Warp Pipe. The pair power up with Fire Flowers before heading into the dark interior, where what initially appears to be a pair of glowing eyes is revealed to be a talking yoshi blocking their path. This is followed by a montage of shots featuring the main crew and highlights from their latest adventures.
The Yoshi reveal follows the tease in the previous film’s post-credit scene, where a green Yoshi egg was shown beginning to crack. The new trailer now gives audiences their first full look – and listen – at the character, confirming his introduction into the franchise. Although Nintendo are yet to announce the voice actor for this character, or any new cast announcements.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie releases into UK cinemas on the 3rd April 2026.
