What if you had 23 personalities you would expect at least one of them to be sane. James McAvoy has 23 in M. Night Shyamalan‘s Split and in the new second UK Trailer, we meet a few of them. What we can clearly say is he’s barking mad, so is he, him too, and him, not mention him, him, him, him, her, him,her again, not to forget her and her, him, her, him, him, him. There is also her, him, him, her and finally, him, check out the trailer…
It’s been a barren time for M.Night Shyamalan and last year’s The Visit has proven there’s still juice in the engine and horror genre seem to bring out the best in him. Last month’s Fantastic Fest, the movie made an unexpected appearance as the mystery movie with those lucky few loving what they saw. This is only good news for us with what looks like the filmmakers darkest unsettling thriller to date.
Writer/director/producer M. Night Shyamalan returns to the captivating grip of The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs with Split, an original thriller that delves into the mysterious recesses of one man’s fractured, gifted mind. Following last year’s breakout hit The Visit, Shyamalan reunites with producer Jason Blum (The Purge and Insidious series, The Gift) for the film.
While the mental divisions of those with dissociative identity disorder have long fascinated and eluded science, it is believed that some can also manifest unique physical attributes for each personality, a cognitive and physiological prism within a single being.
Though Kevin (James McAvoy) has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley), there remains one still submerged who is set to materialise and dominate all the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy, The Witch), Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him—as well as everyone around him—as the walls between his compartments shatter apart.
The new trailer does show off new footage around the footage we saw in the previous version of the trailer. It’s hard to believe this is the same director who had Mark Whalberg talk to rubber plants. This trailer focuses on Kevin and his time with Dr Fletcher letting us see some of those personalities come out. The creepiest is the nine-year-old Hedwig, but who are these personalities?
Split is set for UK& Irish release 20th January 2017 UK&Irish Cinemas with Jessica Sula, and Haley Lu Richardson.
