Just less than 2 months time Paul Feig‘s Ghostbusters reboot will finally be judged properly but today we can check out a brand new U.S Trailer which delivers more monsters, more laughs? With more glimpses of Slimmer he is now joined by another iconic monster from the original 1984 classic…Marshmallow Man!!!
As the new promo gives us more glances of new footage, little more of the plot but will the trailer wet our appetites or simply distance those who old enough remember the original?
What this trailer does do different from the previous trailers is focuses more on the actual plot rather than who where in the actual team. The previous trailer was a disaster making it one of most hated trailers ever made even confusing some of its actual cast even driving one of the writers of Cinemascare to publically say he won’t be reviewing it, pre-empting the film before he’s seen a single minute of it.
Unfortunately for Sony there is many skeptical cinephiles as the online negativity but why does the film attract so much bad publicity? Is it because it’s a all female Ghostbusters team not a male one or is it because it’s not the original male team? it’s attracted sexism, marginalisation, racism, sadly we live in a world where people are becoming easily offended making your anger public easier than ever .Could it be some of the footage we’ve seen especially the gags suggests this is more a soft-reboot as it’s like for like jokes like the ghost-slimming one of the ‘busters? Those who believe Ghostbusters is one of those Childhood memories they deem ‘untouchable’? Hollywood now constantly reboot old films and have a while, Ben-Hur and The Magnificent Seven are another two of remakes/reboots out 2016.
On a positive note this trailer is a vast improvement on the last one, jokes are more solid, funny the chemistry between the ladies is strong too. But has happened to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man? He looks more angry, meaner darker! The one worrying sign from the trailer has it fallen into revealing too much as it seems Chris Hemsworth‘s character might be taken control by a ghost.
Like every movie, we will give this a chance before we judge it and 15th July is when Ghostbusters arrives in UK.starring  Melissa McCarthy,Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig ,Leslie Jones ,Andy Garcia, Michael Kenneth Williams, Matt Walsh, and Cecily Strong.
