First to finish, last to die , revenge is the highest order as you enjoy the first UK Trailer  for Ben-Hur remake races online. Ripped from the golden age of Hollywood 21st Century Hollywood attempts to bring back the epicness and thrills of an era when films where films and special effects where not computerised.

It’s no surprise we have another classic film comes under the microscope for an remake. The 1959 Oscar winning film that defined ‘epic blockbuster’, can 2016 version deliver the same or even just a slice of that magic?

Chariots at the ready get ready to seize the day as two brothers get ready to battle in Ben-Hur.The epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ.

For a while Timur Bekmambetov‘s has been keeping a low profile in it’s promotion until today that could be for a number reasons. What we’re seeing is certainly ambitious and if you where comparing the film to a similar swords and sandals film Gladiator, it’s a long way away from matching it. That doesn’t mean this won’t do well , far from it. It could suggest this film maybe taking a different approach and the film’s director might be the film’s biggest clue to possible direction.

Bekmambetov as we know is an action enthusiast and the action will be the star of the show that should give the film a wider appeal compared to it’s actual religious storyline. That’s not saying that part of the plot will be neglected as John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) and Keith Clarke (The Way Back) have written the script will give the narrative respectability. Bekmambetov is incredibly inventive when it comes to visuals, this trailer shows some if not all of the famous scenes of the Charlton Heston version will be in this. We can clearly see the classic sequence is in this gives the film promise and a chance to see what a CGI horse looks like too!

Ben-Hur is set for 26th August UK release date. The film also stars Morgan Freeman, Rodrigo Santoro Sofia Black D’Elia, Ayelet Zurer, Moisés Arias, Marwan Kenzari and Pilou Asbæk.
