After it’s festival journey in 2015 which included Toronto and London, Eva Husson‘s Bang Gang (A Modern Love Story)is ready for it’s UK cinema release. Tonight  ahead of its release next month Metrodome Distribution have sent us NSFW UK trailer as young adults explore there limits of sexuality.
When it comes to sex The French speaking part of the world have moulded the sub-genre to art form from Blue Is The Warmest Colour to Gaspar Noe‘s Love. Husson’s feature joins that small growing group with a debut film that owes alot to Larry Clark’s controversial film Kids.
Bang Gang (A Modern Love Story) we meet George, a pretty teen girl, falls in love with Alex. To get his attention, she initiates a game with their friends, discovering, testing and pushing the limits of their sexuality. When the nature of their activities is revealed, they each deal with the scandal in radically different ways. Faced with the implosion of their value systems, they move on by reassessing their priorities, finding love and their real desires.
With seconds of of watching this trailer as mentioned earlier this reminds me of Kids but instead of a male perspective it’s from an female one. Amazingly Clark’s film is over 20 plus years old the conquests of Teens hasn’t changed, the quest to loose your virginity. The sexual health looks to be more relevant as they now seem to be more experimental and trying first then think about the consequences of their exuberance later. Its a bold coming of age story, an unflinching story which they young actors sometimes destructive vision of what fun is.
Bang Gang (A Modern Love Story) will be getting an UK cinema release on 17th June (same date for USA too) and will star Finnegan Oldfield, Marilyn Lima, Daisy Broom, Lorenzo Lefebvre, Fred Hotier.
