Netflix Unveils First Look at Live-Action Scooby-Doo: Origins
The series will take audiences back to the beginning of Mystery Inc.
“Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you?” Netflix just unveiled the first look at its hotly anticipated live-action series, Scooby-Doo: Origins.
The short teaser posted on the streaming giant’s social media only reveals a glimpse of two characters from the iconic crime-solving crew: Shaggy and Scooby. But the whole gang is getting a modern reimagining on the small screen for an all-new origin story. The upcoming eight-episode series will take audiences back to the beginning of Mystery Inc., exploring the first case that brings the gang together.
Set during their final summer at camp, the series follows old friends Shaggy and Daphne as they become entangled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lost, lonely Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder.ย They’re soon joined by the pragmatic, scientific townie Velma and the handsome new kid Freddy, and set out as a group to solve the creepy nightmare of a case that threatens to expose their secrets.
The live-action cast features McKenna Grace (Regretting You) as Daphne Blake, Tanner Hagen (The Pitt) as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson (Are You There God? Itโs Me, Margaret) as Velma Dinkley, and Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) as Fred Jones. Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird) is also part of the ensemble.
Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg (From, Citadel) created the series and serve as showrunners and executive producers, alongside executive producer Greg Berlanti (You). Warner Bros. Television is also producing the series.
Scooby-Doo: Originsย is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2027.
