Netflix Confirm Squid Game Getting A Season 2?

“The Squid Game universe has just begun.” – Those are words coming from Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer, Ted Sarandos. Netflix are officially going to release Squid Game season 2, Oh boy we are excited, yay!!!
Without spoiling too much of how Season one ended, it left many doors left open to expand the universe. When the streaming giants CEO/CCO state the Korean Dystopian thriller one of their biggest financial hits , the answer is certainly going to be yes.

“There’s been so much pressure, so much demand, and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice. But, I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen.”
Squid Game season one sees 456 desperate contestants compete with each other in a mysterious and deadly survival game involving multiple rounds of childhood games to win 45.6 billion won (just over £28 million GBP) prize money that can pull them out of their misery. The games were based on traditional child games and each episode a different game. If you know your Korean film and television, many faces of the cast will be known HoYeon Jung, Park Hae-soo, Anupam Tripathi, Kim Joo-ryoung, Wi Ha-joon, Gong Yoo, Lee Byung-Hun, and O Yeong-su. Lee Jung-jae is set to reprise his role as main character Seong Gi-hun aka player 456.
The great news comes on the week Netflix announce their slew of Korean Shows for 2022. Sarandos said the success of Bong Joon-Ho’s Oscar winning Parasite was a big ‘turning point’ for the channel. We have the likes of Zombie drama All Of Us Are Dead and Korean adaptation of Netflix’s successful Spanish crime thriller Money Heist, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area.
When it comes to what Season 2 will take us, the world is your oyster. Will they go international or simply head to another part of Korea? Whatever route, world wide there is endless number of children’s games to make deadly as much as there’s more Korean games.
