Sometimes from no fault fault of our own, films we wanted to see at cinema we miss. Eva Husson‘s drama Mothering Sunday is one of those films, but thanks to Home Entertainment you can rent or even buy that film. Lionsgate Films are set to release the film just before this months end first to download then on DVD and Blu-Ray.
The film is based on the novel by Graham Swift and stars Odessa Young and Josh O’Connor. We find ourselves in England 1924, Jane (Young), a housemaid who finds herself alone on Mother’s Day. She takes the opportunity in a secret love affair with Paul (O’Connor) he is also set to marry another woman, however events are set to change Jane’s life.
On a warm spring day in 1924, house maid and foundling Jane Fairchild (Odessa Young) finds herself alone on Mother’s Day. Her employers, Mr and Mrs Niven (Colin Firth and Olivia Colman), are out and she has the rare chance to spend an afternoon of abandon with her secret lover, Paul (Josh O’Connor), the boy from the manor house nearby who is Jane’s long-term love despite the fact that he’s engaged to be married to another woman, a childhood friend and daughter of his parents’ friends. But events that neither can foresee will change the course of Jane’s life forever.
The film also stars Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Glenda Jackson, Simon Shepherd, Olivia Colman, and Colin Firth.
Mothering Sunday will be available to Download from 28th January, then DVD and Blu-Ray from 31st January.
